el molí de gósol

Gósol

This small mountain town is known for two of his great characters, Josep Mª Ballarin who is the honorary citizen of the town, and Pablo Picasso, who made an artistic and fruitful stay in the town, leaving behind the famous statue that presides over the town’s main square, the so-called “Dona dels Pans”.

One of the better ways to describe the town is through the words of Ballarín: “In the village we have people coming from outside who have become one of us without any annoyances or tears. And I do not talk about myself because for these towns the priest who lives here becomes one of them easily without any effords.
I could tell you the peacefully living you make in Gósol, finding known people on the street, asking a man how is he doing with the card game, finding some gentle woman who carries the first collected mushrooms and some other that brings to you some lettuce. In a village everything is a conversation topic, and thanks to God, little gossips keeps us from talking about politics.

    History

At 1,423 m., the town of Gósol has not always been where we find it now. The first village of Gósol was built on the hill where there are now the ruins of the Gósol castle (11th century), which is included in the route of the Path of the Good Men.

Located in the Gósol Valley between the Pedraforca and Cloterons mountains, it has unbeatable views of the Cadí – Moixeró Range. In order to sightsee the town at your feet you can not miss the views from the viewpoint of Coll de Josa.

Within the village municipalty of Gósol, the village of Sorribes is also found, as well as the places of: Bonner, Collada, Molí d’en Güell, Moripol, Font Terrers, or Torrent Senta (source of the Aigua de Valls River).
